Stubblefield Named Moraga Business Person of the Year

Chamber of Commerce commends owner of Neighborhood Computers.

“I’ve kind of got a hand in everything,” Grant Stubblefield said.

His ubiquitous presence might be a clue to why the Moraga Chamber of Commerce named the owner of on Moraga Road as the town's 2011 Business Person of the Year.

“I’ve been active with the chamber since I was a junior at St. Mary’s (College) and got involved with Edy Schwartz and Ellen Beans and started working on the Moraga Citizens' Network,” Stubblefield said. “That’s the first web site I created.”

Stubblefield also worked on the web site and the creation of the Shop Moraga First campaign several years ago.

“I’ve noticed this in my business,” said Stubblefield. “It really has changed the mentality of how people think when they think local business.” When a local business doesn’t have an item, more people request it be ordered rather than going to a bigger store a half-hour away, Stubblefield said.

“People really appreciate what they can get in the local community,” he said. “It’s not just Moraga. It’s Lafayette and Orinda as well.”

Stubblefield is being recognized with a proclamation from the Moraga Town Council that cites his activism with the Moraga Community Faire and as the recording secretary for the Moraga Chamber of Commerce.
