Lafayette Water Main Break Disrupts Service; Girl Scout Cookie Sales
East Bay Municipal Utility District crews labored to cap a ruptured water main in Lafayette Tuesday night.
East Bay Municipal Utility District crews spent much of Tuesday evening repairing a broken water main on Las Trampas Road, utility spokesman Charles Hardy reported.
The main ruptured at around 4:45 p.m. Tuesday and disrupted service to seven local customers while repair crews labored to cap it. A woman and her daughter selling Girl Scout cookies in the area were briefly stuck in the resultant mudflow but were quickly extricated -- with those addictive Thin Mints intact.
Full service was expected to be restored by 11 p.m., Hardy said.
