Funeral For Slain Vallejo Police Officer Wednesday

Memorial fund established in his memory

Thousands of mourners are expected to attend the funeral of Vallejo Police Officer James Capoot Wednesday, with Gov. Jerry Brown, State Attorney General Kamala Harris, and officers from law enforcement agencies across the state on hand to honor the ex-Marine and highly decorated officer.

Funeral services will take place Wednesday at Corbus Field at Vallejo High School, 840 Nebraska Street, starting at 11 a.m.

A police motor escort will depart Skyview Memorial Lawn on Rollingwood Drive at 10:30 a.m. and travel to Benicia Road, on to Amador Street, then to Nebraska Street and arrive at the high school field at 11 a.m.

Capoot, 45, was gunned down while chasing a bank robbery suspect on Nov. 17.

Before joining the Vallejo Police Department in 1990, Capoot served as a U.S. Marine and a California Highway Patrol officer.

The Vallejo Police Officers Association has set up a memorial fund for the Capoot family.
